“Chivotul” Psaltic Choir of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Iasi
“Chivotul” Psaltic Choir of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Iasi was established at the initiative of His Beatitude Father and Patriarch Daniel, then Metropolitan of Moldavia and Bukovina.
At that time, the choir was composed by young theologian students who were singing daily at the Metropolitan Cathedral during services. At the moment, with the blessings of the Most Reverend Teofan, Metropolitan of Moldavia and Bukovina, the choir has 14 members, 8 of which are vocational employed singers and 6 of them students at the Faculty of Theology with scholarships offered as an opportunity to sing in the Cathedral’s Choir.
Placed under the protection of Saint Paraskeva and under the supervision of Reverend Father Dosoftei Șcheul, Ecclesiarch of the Metropolitan Cathedral and Archdeacon Ciprian Rusu, “Chivotul” Psaltic Choir participates daily in the offices: Midnight Office, Matins, Divine Liturgy, Vespers, Akathist and Paraklesis of Saint Paraskeva.
The conductor of “Chivotul” Psaltic Choir, Fr. Archdeacon Ciprian Rusu, is servant of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Iasi. In 2013, he was ordained deacon by the Most Reverend Teofan, Metropolitan of Moldavia and Bukovina.
He graduated "Veniamin Costachi" Orthodox Theological Seminary from Neamț Monastery, then “Dumitru Stăniloae” Faculty of Orthodox Theology of Iasi and ”George Enescu” University of Arts, department of Academic Conducting. He is among the first members of “Chivotul” Psaltic Choir and he deals, at the moment, with organizing and supervising the chanters, actively participating in church singing and coordinating the projects of the choir.
