Iași Byzantine Music Festival is the most important festival of this type in Romania. For four days, the city of Iași will be the capital of the Byzantine chant, where some of the most renowned performers of Byzantine music will perform in concerts and religious services.

The purpose of the event is to promote the unique traditions of the Byzantine chant, but also to inform the public about the connection between the sacred music and the so-called ”secular music”.

For centuries, Moldavia preserved the spirit of Byzantium, the ancient heart of the Orthodoxy and the city of Iași became one of the most important cultural centres for the Byzantine music.
