His Grace Nichifor Botoșăneanul was born on November 14, 1967, in Braila. Between 1993 and 1997 he attended the "Dumitru Stăniloae" Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Iasi, Pastoral Care field of specialization, which he graduated with a BA paper on the topic "The Spiritual Father – Spiritual Son Relationship in the Egyptian Paterikon".

In 2008 he enrolled for a Master's degree at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Iasi, and in 2010 he defended his MA thesis titled "Pastoral methods and means used by Saint Nicodemus the Hagiorite and Father Petre Vintilescu". Between 2013 and 2016 he attended the Doctoral School of the "Dumitru Stăniloae" Faculty of Orthodox Theology, "Al. I. Cuza" University in Iasi, writing his dissertation on "The Practice of Exorcism in the Orthodox Church. Liturgical, Canonical and Pastoral Aspects," under the supervision of Rev. Dr. Viorel Sava. Upon the public defense, on September 20, 2018, the doctoral committee qualified it as "Excellent." The text was published as a book by Doxologia Publishing House last year. As a sole author, his Grace also published the volume "The Spirituality of the Paterikon" with Doxologia Publishing House in 2013. He has published more than 30 scientific articles in journals or collective volumes, in Romania and abroad, both in Romanian and French, and has been invited, throughout the years, to numerous conferences and radio and TV shows.

Since February 2009, Archimandrite Nichifor Horia has been the exarch of the monasteries in the Archdiocese of Iasi.

His Grace, Fr. Nichifor Botoșăneanul, was elected Vicar Bishop of the Archdiocese of Iași during the meeting of the Holy Synod, which took place on February 25, 2021, in the "Patriarch Teoctist" Aula Magna of the Patriarchal Palace, presided by His Beatitude, Patriarch Daniel, and ordained bishop on March 7, 2021, in the Metropolitan Cathedral of Iași.
